Clausentum Bandit Hideout

The Clausentum Bandit Hideout was a former Roman town located southeast of Wincestre in southeastern Hamtunscire. During the Medieval period, the town, largely a ruin, was occupied by a band of bandits who revered Queen Seaxburh of Wessex, referring to her as queen of the Gewisse.

In the 870s, the hideout was visited by the the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir. After eliminating the bandits, she recovered two tungsten ingots: one from a chest hidden beneath a cellar, and one from a Goliath.[1] At the same time, Eivor also came across a vellum proclaimation written in Latin insulting the various monarchs and nobles of Wessex and praising Queen Seaxburh.[2]
