Sir Charles Barry (23 May 1795 – 12 May 1860) was an English architect, best known for his role in the rebuilding of the Palace of Westminster in London during the mid 19th century.
In 1844, Charles was hired to rebuild the palace which had burned down 10 years ago in October 1834. When the new palace was to include a new clock tower, Barry hired the the clockmaker Lewis Vulliamy for the clock itself.[1]
