Trivia
* This type of spear was popular during the 9th century, used by the Franks, Anglo-Saxons, and especially by the Vikings.  The wings on the spearhead were used to hook enemy shields and move them out of the way in order to deliver a killing blow.  They were also used by European nobility as boar-hunting spears, as the wings also stop the boar from running up the entire shaft of the spear when it was stabbed.

Carolingian Pike

The Carolingian Pike was a spear used in the 9th century by warriors in shield walls.

During the Viking expansion into England, the long weapon was made available to the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan through an Animus modification by Layla Hassan, an Assassin who relieved her memories.[1]
