Antoninus (Latin: Marcus Aurelius Severus Antoninus Augustus; 4 April 188 – 8 April 217), better known by his nickname Caracalla, was Emperor of Rome from 198 to his death.

In 203, the Arch of Septimius Severus was built commemorating the Parthian victories of Caracalla, his father Septimius Severus and his brother Geta.

After the death of their father, Caracalla and Geta ruled jointly as Emperors. In 211 however, Geta was assassinated on Caracalla's order. Caracalla had all records of his brother's existence destroyed, including his image and inscriptions on the arch.

Between 212 and 216, the Baths of Caracalla were built, along with their supplying acqueduct, the Acqua Antoniniana. He also restored the Porta Tiburtina.
