The Camulodunum bureau was the base of operations utilized by the Roman branch of the Hidden Ones in Essex, England. The bureau was later discovered and explored by Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir in the late 9th century.[1]
History
The bureau was established at some point prior to 90 CE, when a contract was issued for the assassination of Governor Verus, undertaken successfully by Acolytus Anicius. Around 383, following the order of Magnus Maximus to withdraw all Roman troops from the north, Magister Marcellus closed the Eboracum bureau at Jorvik and the Venta Belgarum bureau at Wincestre, and some of the Hidden Ones were redirected to the bureau. Around 423, Magister Vitus ordered the evacuation of the Hidden Ones from Britannia, directing them to the Cologne bureau in Germania.[1]
In the late 9th century, Eivor Varinsdottir, tasked with uncovering the abandoned bureaus of England by Hytham, discovered the Camulodunum bureau and recovered a page from The Magas Codex and the hood of a Hidden One.[1]
