A bracer is a type of arm armor mainly used by archers to protect their forearm. A similar piece of forearm armor is a vambrace.
During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra collected various bracers.[1]
Behind the scenes
Though there are some armor pieces named vambraces in the Assassin's Creed series, such as the Magister's Vambraces, these are misnamed. A vambrace is a forearm guard made as part of a suit of plate armour, covering not only the forearm, but also the elbow,[2] which these pieces do not.
