Lineage Discovery and Acquisition, alternatively called Lineage Research and Acquisition, is a department of Abstergo Industries responsible for locating and acquiring people whose lineages were of interest to the company. These subjects were often used in the company's initiatives dealing with genetic memory, including the Animus Project and Project Legacy.
Over the years, the department has been responsible for the capture of numerous individuals closely related to the Assassin Brotherhood, including Daniel Cross (Subject 4),[1] Clay Kaczmarek (Subject 16),[2] Desmond Miles (Subject 17),[3] Callum Lynch,[4] and Noa Kim.[5] It also includes a medical division, where subjects' physical and psychological health were evaluated by a medical examiner.[6]
The department is currently led by Mitsuko Nakamura, a member of the Templar Order's Inner Sanctum.[7][8]
