I don't mind upgrading things in games but as long as they don't make it fruitless. I dislike upgrading a weapon that is extremely weak even when fully upgraded when I could have bought a much more efficient item at half the price. Also I despise weapon/armor degradation. In the real world you don't need to repair a well made item every time you use it.
In other words upgrading should fit my play style. I'm a completionist so I want to upgrade everything and get disappointed when those upgrades are proven worthless.
