That's extraordinarily far fetched... even for Assassin's Creed. No, I'm guessing he relieves Connor's memories because it's correated to the Temples somehow. Unless I'm wrong... which you know I'm not... Desmond is relieving Connor's memories because Connor knows something that Desmond and company don't. (I just read another comment about the Grand Temple). Connor must know the location to a number of different temples... or the by the very least... the destination... The Grand Temple.
