Barbados is a sovereign island country in the Lesser Antilles and a former overseas territory of the United Kingdom.

History

Up until his conversion to piracy in 1717, the Barbadian merchant Stede Bonnet was a moderately wealthy landowner on the island, controlling a fair number of sugar plantations. Bonnet would often transport his crops to nearby cities such as Havana.[1]

In 1751, after a stop-over on his way from Haiti to Virginia, the Templar Lawrence Washington wrote to his associate Christopher Gist regarding his thoughts on the Assassin Mentor François Mackandal and his own discovery of the Port-au-Prince Temple and its destruction.[2]

During the Seven Years' War, the Templar Shay Cormac smuggled a group of Templar agents to help strengthen the Templars' control over the island.[3] After the agents' work was complete, the Templars called on Shay again to extract the agents.[4]

During the mid-18th century, the Grandpré family business of New Orleans regularly sent ships to Barbados' capital of Bridgetown to trade goods.[5]
