As much as like Mike Fassbender, I'm really, really horrified by the prospect of them shoving two ancestors and the modern day story at once into one movie. It'll either be a clusterfuck of short, nonsensical and non-connective ideas, or what we'll have lots of things, but with very little screentime each.
That aside, I still stick to my personal opinion - you want to make an AC movie, make it like the CGI trailers, just full-length. You just get the voice actors and the crew responsible for CGI. People are pleased by seeing the actual characters they know on screen instead of Actor X, and gives animators and choreographers wider area to work with.
More expensive? Quite possibly. Much more effective and pleasing most people on the long run - almost certain.
