When you get to the end, don't shoot the tank in the middle of the fortress. It's an empty shell.
Kill all the guys running around from afar, then when you enter, circle around the tank shell and fire away at the first tank, before taking out the second.
When you hit them, it interrupts their fire, and you can maneuver out of the way in time afterwards.
