I didn't mean Connor, I meant the Assassin Order in general. Didn't they help in the Russian Revolution? Shao Jun's Chinese Emperor fiasco? The murder of Julius Caeser? Those were pretty one-side-or-another conflicts.
Connor himself may have a different stance him being native american and all. And for all we know he might not even be from an Assassin lineage and merely a vigilante who joined the cause. He'll think differently and have different motives than the rest of the Assassins of his time. But thats why we're playing him, the special guy.
