Biography

On 26 June 1867, Queen Victoria wrote to Augustus, thanking him for kindness in dealing with her servant John Brown. She talked about a matter involving Brown and her displeasure at his being disallowed from accompanying her to a review in Hyde Park. She invited Augustus over before lunch to discuss manners in which to avoid similar events in the future and said him that if he went to see Countess Blücher, she would be able to inform him further about the event.[1]

Augustus Fitzroy is a character and historical figure mentioned in the 2015 video game, Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. Although his proper ceremonial title was Lord Augustus Fitzroy, Queen Victoria erroneously refers to him as "Lord Charles", a fact supported by footnotes in her official published collection of letters stating that Lord Charles was "Equerry to Queen Victoria, 1849-1882; succeeded his brother as 7th Duke of Grafton, 1882" and the 7th Duke of Grafton was Augustus.[2]
