Auguste Oberlin (1466 - 1503) was a blacksmith from Rome and propaganda agent for the House of Borgia during the early 16th Century. He was assassinated by Ezio Auditore da Firenze after he confronted the Assassin for tearing down his propaganda posters in the Campagna district.
Centuries later, his genetic memories were downloaded by Abstergo Industries and used in the Animus training project.
He makes an appearance in the multiplayer mode as the Blacksmith.
