Asturias is an autonomous community in northwest Spain.
Around 1492, a sect of monks from a monastery in the Asturias mountains was captured by Inquisitors under the orders of Gustavo Ramírez, who sought their holy relic, a fragment of Saint James' golden staff. They were held in the slums of the town of Oviedo until the Spanish Brotherhood of Assassins rescued them.[1]
