The user Bovkaffe has recently proposed the deletion of a good portion of the Brotherhoods and Rites pages, stating that they were only speculatory. Both me and Sol Pacificus have objected to this on the basis that they can be shown to actually exist, with the only speculation being their names (i.e. the name "Canadian Rite" is never used, but various sources state that Templars have been active in Canada since the American Revolution and were even stated to be the leading faction of the order during the early 19th century). It should also be noted that the modern Assassins still use the term Brotherhood to describe certain cells, like the Osaka and Russian Brotherhoods.
I have, at the moment, removed the deletion tag from a number of these, only leaving the ones for which, indeed, no sources could be found, like the Mexican Brotherhood. I've also left the ones who were only identified as part of Abstergo, because I'm not sure of our policy in that regard at the moment. For example, Abstergo facilities exist in the Netherlands and Australia, but I'm not yet sure if that's considered enough to qualify as a Rite.
A while back, the user ZéACNS rather overzealously created a whole bunch of Brotherhoods and Rites pages, often without citing any sources. I proposed the deletion of the ones for which I could not find any sources, which has since been carried out.
Anyway, I wish to discuss this more thoroughly rather than allow these pages to simply be deleted. Especially since these pages took a lot of work to make and I believe that most of them have plenty of adequate and justifiable reasons to exist. <ac_metadata title="Brotherhoods and Rites" related_topics="Assassins|Assassin cell|Templars|Abstergo Industries"> </ac_metadata>
