Wikipedia has the following line: A watermark is a recognizable image or pattern (...)
So, a watermarked image is an image with a recognizable image or pattern, which can be either a logo or a piece of text that disrupts the image. Watermarks are ussualy placed on images by websites who don't want other users to "steal" their images without giving them credit for it. We don't want watermarked images on the wiki, because it is ugly and unnecessary. Hope this helped, even though I'm not Vatsa.
