"You know the Borgia Towers? You don't have that but you have something that's an evolution of that, you have something that's an evolution of city improvement, and all of that's consolidated in the Assassin's Dens."
Official Xbox Magazine

Assassin Dens were reclaimed Templar Towers, which could be found around the city of Constantinople during the Renaissance. They functioned similarly to the Borgia Towers of Rome.

History

During 1511, Ezio Auditore liberated the structures from the Byzantine Templar's control, using several strategic attacks; he then replaced the Templar influence with a well-ordered den of his fellow Assassins. However, whenever his notoriety rose, Templars would attempt to retake the dens. Ezio would either lead a direct assault to reclaim it or send Apprentices to take care of it for him. The Master Assassin was also able to defend the Dens with diferent units or structures.

Unit/Structure Description Cost (Morale) Attack
Assassin Leader Leaders generate morale and influence units within their radius. 10 No attack.
Barricades Install a barricade in the street to stall the Templars' advance. 10 No attack.
Assassin Crossbow Average damage, but with a fast rate of fire. 10 2/4
Assassin Riflemen Very high damage but slow firing rate. Deadly even against armored targets. 15 3,5/4
Air Assassins Air Assassins strike enemies from above 10 4/4

Ezio would also select Master Assassins to guard the Dens for him so that the Templars could not retake them, regardless of his notoriety.

Captains

Den Captains were very skilled guards who guarded the Dens from the Assassins or Templars. Ezio would have to kill the Templar Captain guarding it and use his talent to see which was the Captain among regular guards.
