The Abandoned Mines was a mining site on the island of Seriphos, Greece. Used in the past for mining metals, it had since been abandoned and inhabited by snakes.
During the Peloponnesian War the mine was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra, who helped a little girl to recover several shiny stones for her "friends".[1]
