It never actually says that Cain was a Templar and Abel, Adam, and Eve were Assassins, which wouldn't make very much sense. It simply displays the enigmatic Mark of Cain as being the Templars' symbol. In stead of looking to the literal, look to the actual story of Cain and Abel. The Article pic is not a Templar, that's one of Richard's knights.
It never actually says that Cain was a Templar and Abel, Adam, and Eve were Assassins, which wouldn't make very much sense.
