:Just tossing ideas here, but I'm thinking each group evolves into the other. I'd say the Cult follows an abstract belief in "Order", which is turned into an ideology by the Order of the Ancients, with a concrete methodology emerging sometime between the end of ''The Hidden Ones (DLC)'' and when they formally organized into the Templars. :The Order of the Ancients was created by the Pharaoh Smenkhkare circa 1334 BC, so it exists during the event of ''Odyssey'', but maybe they joined together after that.
