Although I am proposing this article for deletion, if I don't receive any feedback after two weeks, I will actually remove my proposal instead of going ahead with the deletion as is the usual practice. I do think if there is no strong opinion on it, erring on the side of caution may be to just leave the article up, but I thought it proper to broach opinions about this article's deletion. This is the discussion page for Chinese Civil War.
Here, you may discuss improving the article.

Deletion proposal

I am proposing this article for deletion because the Chinese Civil War never really appears in Black Cross and therefore any Assassin's Creed media. It is not the period in which the story is set, which is the Warlord Era. It is also only indirectly described—never by name—in a closing page included in the collected volume which explains the significance of the 1927 Shanghai massacre in beginning the rivalry between the KMT and CCP. This closing page implies (but never explicitly says) that the massacre began the Chinese Civil War, but Wikipedia dates the start of the war later in the year with the Nanchang uprising. Unfortunately, I had to cite Wikipedia for that because none of the authoritative sources I have on hand says either was the start despite it being the common understanding. One of my books actually dates it as beginning with the end of World War II, therefore only counting what is genuinely thought of as the civil war's second phase following its interruption by the Japanese invasion. Because of this, it is disputable if the opening hours of the Chinese Civil War even occurs in Black Cross.

I have rewritten the article the best I could, adding the tangential snippet about Chiang's initial intent to purge the Templars as well to give a little more sense of relevance to Assassin's Creed. But as it is, the whole article is basically external information. I advocate for the use of external information to improve writing quality and round out articles, especially when explaining events because otherwise using Assassin's Creed sources exclusively leaves awkward gaps in the plot that makes it more confusing for readers to understand (hence my practice in the "Warlord Era" and "Republic of China" articles". But in this case, the article is almost exclusively external information.

I agree with your initial stance to delete this. While a few events and people have been introduced in the series and this site indirectly, to my memory, they usually are named at some point, e.g. Leonardo Loredan, Aulus Gabinius, or the Abbasid Revolution. Unlike King Henry VI's page, where his "appearance" is also entirely indirect but his actions are felt by Heresy's characters in a few referenced chapters, you've noted that this article draws on too many external sources to support the minimal information in Black Cross when they are supposed to supplement pages rather than be foundations. The uncertainty on the dates for when the war began does not help, either, in my view. – Darman (talk) 16:55, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
