Æthelberht also called Ethelbert (c. 550 – 616) was King of Kent from about 589 until his death.
Biography
Circa 597, Æthelberht, a practitioner of Anglo-Saxon paganism, was visited by Lord Augustine the first Archbishop of Canterbury, who was sent across the seas by the Bishop of Rome, Gregory I. Augustine guided Æthelberht away from the worship of pagan idols and converted him to Christianity.[1]
