The wild pigs are descendants of domesticated pigs (Sus scrofa domestica). When domesticated pigs escaped their pens they ended up living in the wilds. After breeding, their offspring become known as wild pigs or feral pigs.
During the Golden Age of Piracy wild pigs roamed the wilds in the Bahamas, including Nassau, Mariguana Island, Cape Bonavista, and Great Inagua. Pirate Edward Kenway often hunted wild pigs for their pelts.[1]
