Wallachia is a historical and geographical region of Romania. It is situated north of the Danube and south of the Southern Carpathians.
During the mid to late 15th century, the Templar Vlad Tepes served three times as Voivode of Wallachia, until he was killed by the Ottoman Assassins under the command of their leader Ishak Pasha.[1]
Wallachia was also the home country of the noble Vali cel Tradat, who joined the Assassin Brotherhood. When the Assassins allowed the Ottoman Empire's march into Wallachia and forged an alliance with the Ottomans, Vali deserted the Brotherhood and joined the Templar Order in opposition of the Ottoman Assassins.[1]
Following the end of the Crimean War in 1856, Wallachia, along with Moldavia, united into one single nation, Romania. The state gained its independece from the Ottomans only in 1877, with the help of the Russian Empire.[2]
