Völund's forge was one of many smithies constructed in the Isu Era. It was presumably found in the depths of the North Sea.

History[edit | edit source]

In the late 9th century, the Viking Geirmund Hjörrsson threw himself off the longship Wave Lover and woke up in the forge after nearly drowning in the North Sea. Venturing around, he wondered if he was alive and then came across an apparition of Völund. In their conversations, Völund introduced to him the arm-ring Hnituðr and described how Geirmund's ancestors utilized its ability to reflect most ferromagnetic weapons during their lives. After Geirmund was told of his life's trajectory and saw this opportunity, he took the ring and thanked Völund before leaving.[1]
