The Uí Ímair was a Norse-Gaelic dynasty that ruled much of the Irish Sea, Dublin, the western coast of Scotland and portions of northern England in the late 9th century. The dynasty was founded by Ímair, a Viking leader from Norway who raided Ireland and Scotland prior to becoming the King of Dublin in 853 CE.[1] Shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir and her mother Rosta of the Raven Clan were related to Uí Ímair through her cousin Bárid mac Ímair.[2]

Behind the scenes

While some scholars believe Ímair of Ireland and Ivarr the Boneless to be the same person and thus the Uí Ímair to be a sept of the Ragnarssons, as noted by Shaun Hastings in Bárid mac Ímair's Database entry,[1] the game portrays them as separate individuals, possibly to distance the plot of the downloadable expansion Wrath of the Druids from that of the base game.
