Toffana was an employee of the Borgia family during the liberation of Rome, and a servant to Lucrezia Borgia in particular.

When the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze infiltrated the Castel Sant'Angelo for the second time, he overheard a conversation between Lucrezia and a guard. During this conversation, Lucrezia asked the guard where her batch of cantarella was, and told him that Toffana should have delivered it. The guard then revealed to her that her father, Rodrigo, had taken the cantarella for himself.
