It is the location of the penultimate level of the game and Altair must cross the battlefield. This results in several forced combat sequences against 20+ 2 and 3 hit foes, of both European and Saracen types, before you reach the camp of Richard I of England. Here you confront De Sable and speak with Richard, who decides for them to resolve their issues in trial by combat. De Sable uses his Templar knights (of similar type to those in the Jerusalem Graveyard) against you, before personally fighting Altair. Irritatingly, he cannot be struck whilst knocked over, but regains his footing before you can switch to the hidden blade and kill him whilst prone. Like all other Templars, such as Maria and those at Jerusalem as well as those throughout the game, he will tend to grab you whilst fighting, or use 'strong' attacks, which cannot be countered or deflected, rather strike when he is exposed in the 'windup' to his attack.

In 1101 Arsuf fell to a Crusader army led by Baldwin I of Jerusalem. The Crusaders, who called it Arsur, rebuilt the city's walls and created the Lordship of Arsur in the Kingdom of Jerusalem. In 1187 Arsuf was captured by the Muslims, but fell again to the Crusaders on September 7, 1191 after a battle between Richard I of England and Saladin.
