The Illustrated Police News, also known as The Illustrated Police Bulletin, was a 19th century British newspaper and one of the earliest tabloids, focusing their journalistic work on crimes and scandals.[1] Throughout 1868, the newspaper's headlines covered events such as Sir David Brewster's mysterious death in an explosion near Croydon, a gang war at Whitechapel, the explosion of a Starrick Brewing Company distillery at Southwark, the destruction of Attaway Transport omnibuses, and the Royal Ball, attended by then-Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli.
