Temple of Sobek

The Temple of Sobek was a large temple complex, center of the worship of the crocodile-god Sobek, located in Krokodilopolis in the Faiyum Oasis. It served as the home of Petsuchos, the embodiment of the god, as well as other tame crocodiles, fed by the priests of the temple.

In 48 BCE, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa visited the temple. Eventually, Bayek assassinated Sehetep, a corrupt priest who worked with soldiers serving under Berenike, the nomarch of Faiyum, to increase offerings to the temple.[1]

Around the same time, Bayek also found one of the Papyrus Puzzles within the temple.[2]
