The Temple of Aphrodite was a temple located on Akrokorinth in Korinthia, Greece. It was dedicated to the Greek goddess of love and beauty Aphrodite.
During the Peloponnesian War, the hetaerae of Korinth fled to Akrokorinth and the temple in fear of The Monger, a brute who wanted to control them. Around the same time, the Spartan misthios Kassandra also visited the temple, looking for the hetaerae in order to seek out information concerning her mother, Myrrine.[1]
Alkibiades also visited the temple, and met Kassandra there, asking her to deliver a package to the nearby fort.[2]
Trivia
- The temple serves as a viewpoint in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.
