The Tafsir al-Tabari

The Jāmiʿ al-bayān ʿan taʾwīl āy al-Qurʾān, popularly known as Tafsir al-Tabari, was a tafsir written by the historian and scholar Al-Tabari, containing interpretations of the verses of the Quran.[1]

One of the books lost from the House of Wisdom, the Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq recovered found the book in the chambers library.[2]

Basim's description

Al-Tabari knows the Quaran as well as one could hope. He must have dedicated every moment of his walking life to the words of the Prophet. The word of God is one, but men interpret it many different ways. He has tried his best to record these discussions and debates so we can all get closer to the true Word of God. In the intellectual sphere, it is a truly courageous and daunting work.

Behind the scenes

The Tafsir al-Tabari is one of the collectibles in Assassin's Creed: Mirage as part of the Al-Jahiz's Lost Books memory. However, it's appearance in the game is a anachronistic as the book would not be published until 883.
