South Mareotis Trireme

The South Mareotis Trireme was an Egyptian trireme which operated in Lake Mareotis during the 1st century BCE. So named because it sailed in the south of the lake, it was used to transport a pack of lions in cages.

In 48 BCE, the Medjay Bayek boarded the ship and eliminated all of its guards, where he discovered the caged lions and looted the valuables.[1]
