Sobroso Castle is a castle in Spain and former residence of Pedro Madruga.[1]
History
Some years prior to 1492, a sect of monks from the Asturias mountains gave their sacred relic, actually a piece of the Shattered Staff of Eden, to the protector of their monastery Pedro Madruga for safe-keeping. Madruga took it to Sobroso Castle. After his death, the castle was uninhabited, but still housed the relic.[1]
Circa 1492, the Spanish Brotherhood of Assassins learned that Inquisitor Gustavo Ramírez ordered the capture and torture of that sect of monks and plotted their rescue. Upon freeing the Abbot, they were told about the piece of the Staff.[1]
Diego de Alvarado, an Assassin turncoat, informed the Templars of this and the Inquisition forces arrived at the castle before the Assassins, who made their way through the castle and eventually reached a hallway just in time to see Alvarado, with the Staff section in hand, conclude a meeting with Lieutenant del Salto before being escorted out the back door. del Salto and the Assassins fought, with the former being fatally wounded.[2] The Assassins soon left Sobroso Castle, tracking down Alvarado to the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.[3]
