Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye (died c. 887), born Sigurd Ragnarsson, was a Norse Viking warrior and king of Denmark.
Biography
Avenging Ragnar
When his father, Ragnar Lothbrok was killed by King Ælla of Northumbria,[1] Sigurd and his brothers Halfdan Ragnarsson, Ivarr the Boneless, Ubba Ragnarsson, and Björn Ironside plotted their revenge.[2]
Legacy
Sigurd and his brothers were mentioned by Halfdan in 876 to Eivor Varinsdottir when he reflected on his lost brothers.[2]
Behind the scenes
Although no connection is made in series, some traditions have Sigurd through different lineages as the ancestor of Harald Fairhair and Harald Bluetooth both who feature prominently in Assassin's Creed media. Additionally some scholars have posited he is the same figure as Sigfred who led the Siege of Paris.
