Mario was robbed of the Apple of Eden he was keeping with him and sent back to the city. Right when Mario entered, he fell to the ground due to his injuries, though he was quickly put out of his misery by Borgia, who shot Mario's head with a firearm. Ezio went unconcious due to a gunshot wound right after he saw Mario's execution. The Siege of Monteriggioni was a battle between the Assassins and Knights Templar which took place in 1499. The leader of the Templar forces, Cesare Borgia, attacked the city of Monteriggioni, the main headquarters of the Assassins, in search of the Apple of Eden.
