- "A small vessel equipped with a handful of cannons and used for operations in shallow waters."
- ―The in-game description of the Serpent.[src]
The Serpent was a gunboat briefly captained by the French pirate Alonzo Batilla during June 1716.
Before it was given to Alonzo, the Serpent was part of the fleet of Olivier Levasseur. Impressed by Alonzo's courage and determination after rescuing him from Captain Barnes, Levasseur gave the Serpent to the released pirate. Alonzo briefly used this ship, before claiming the larger schooner, the Wanderer as his own.
