Selime was a Turkish woman active during the 15th century. In 1475, Yusuf Tazim, a young thief of Constantinople, stole the heavy purse of Selime while she was in the city's baazar. Fooled by her rich clothes, Yusuf didn't know that the money he had just stolen was everything the woman possessed after she fled her abusive husband with her children. However, Davud bin Hassan, another thief who knew who she was, explained everything to Yusuf, who later gave back the purse to Selime.[1]
