Seals, are medium to large sized marine mammals belonging to the Otariidae and Phocidae families.

Most seals are grey or brown colored. They have a lot of body fat to keep them warm in colder oceans. Three flippers are used to propel their streamlined bodies through the waters.

History

During the 9th century, Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir encountered several seals on the beaches of England, including the northern part of East Anglia near the Seahenge.[1]
