The San Marco district was a district of Florence. It was located at the east side of the city and it also included some of the northern areas of Florence. Notable landmarks in this district were the Basilica di Santa Croce, the Palazzo Medici and the Ospedale degli Innocenti. During the 15th century most of the construction in Florence occurred in this area.
