Aquilus was a Roman Assassin and an ancestor of Desmond Miles.

Aquila is a constellation which in Latin means "eagle", in the same context as Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and Ezio Auditore da Firenze's first names; also pertaining to eagles in their native languages. Also, the constellation of Aquila's brightest star is named Altair.
