The Royal Guard was a type of heavy shield used by members of the Saxon Royal Guard based in Lunden, England during the 9th century.
During her travels, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan bought this shield from a merchant for 500 silver pieces.[1]
