Apuleius (c. 124 – c. 170), also called Lucius Apuleius Madaurensis, was a Latin-language Berber writer with Roman citizenship. He was also a Platonist philosopher and was suspected of being a mage. He is best remembered for his novel, The Golden Ass.
During the early 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze bought a copy of this book from a book shop in Constantinople.
