Rhodanthe was a Greek woman who served as a sponsor and a muse to the actor Thespis during 5th century BCE.

History

During the Peloponnesian War, she accompanied Thespis to Elis for one of his plays on the Battle of Thermopylae and King Leonidas I of Sparta.[1]

Trivia

  • Rhodanthe is a name derived from the Greek words ῥόδον (rhódon) and άνθος (ánthos), meaning 'rose flower'. It is also the name of a genus of the daisy family.
