The Rapier was a sword belonging to an officer. It was mainly a ceremonial piece but could still be used in combat.
During the 18th century, the sword was acquired by the French Assassin Arno Dorian.[1]

The Rapier, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Unity, initially needed to be unlocked by connecting with the Assassin's Creed: Unity companion app. However, on 18 February 2015, Ubisoft released Patch 5 which removed the need to connect to the companion app and Assassin's Creed: Initiates.[2]
