- "Master Puckle's gun fires more shots than an artillery brigade, and twice as fast."
- ―Le Chasseur describing the Puckle gun, 1754.[src]

The Puckle Gun is the first automatic cannon, invented by James Puckle, an Englishman in 1718. This weapon was widely considered to be the first modern machine gun, able to rapidly fire numerous metal projectiles in relatively quick succession before requiring to be reloaded.
Le Chasseur, a spy operating for both the Assassins and for France, was able to steal a blueprint from a British ship that had detailed instructions on assembling the cannon. This allowed Le Chasseur to build the weapon on Shay Cormac's ship, the Morrigan.
