Pontiac, or Obwandiyag (c. 1720 – 20 April 1769), was an Odawa war chief best known for his role in Pontiac's Rebellion. After the British Empire broke the Treaty of Easton's peace terms in 1758, a loose confederation of Indigenous tribes launched Pontiac's Rebellion against William Johnson in 1763.[1]

During the rebellion, Pontiac became the most prominent and feared of the native leaders, and he used a toothed war club in battle. Sometime around 1774, the Colonial Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton recovered Pontiac's club, following the war chief's assassination by a Peoria warrior five years prior.[2]
