Phillipe Chartrand is a researcher working for Abstergo Entertainment. In 2013 he was assigned to study the life and memories of Bernard Kenway, the father of pirate Edward Kenway.
A new Abstergo Entertainment research analyst discovered, while hacking the Abstergo system, emails sent between Chartrand and Jennifer Tam - another employee. Over several days the two discussed the hacker themself, the Kenways, and the "British barista" working in the building lobby.
As the email exchange continued, both Tam and Chartrand became increasingly anxious about the spate of hackings occurring within the company, and their employer's aggressive response.
